SERVICE DOGS

Service dog training is a specialized program designed to teach dogs the skills they need to assist individuals with disabilities or specific needs. From helping with mobility tasks to providing psychiatric support, service dogs are trained to perform tasks tailored to their handler's unique requirements.

This class focuses on obedience, reliability, and task-specific skills, ensuring the dog can confidently support their handler in a variety of environments. Service dogs learn to assist their owners with specific special needs. Service dogs not only provide physical assistance but also help foster independence and improve the quality of life for those they serve.

As a team, dogs and humans will:

  • Learn how to stay calm in stressful situations.

  • Learn safety skills in various environments.

  • Train to perform specific tasks for their individual handler.

  • Be tested for the Public Access Certificate.

Prerequisite: A letter from a healthcare doctor stating the need for a Service Dog is required. Additionally, dogs must know basic commands, walk on a Loose Leash, and not exhibit reactive, shy or aggressive behavior.

If you believe your dog is a good fit as a service dog, please send us an email to sign up for an evaluation.

Vaccination Policy

Dogs 16 weeks and older MUST have completed their DHPP and Rabies vaccinations. Bordetella and K9 Influenza vaccines are recommended but not required for class.
